Florida 4-H Centennial Logo

In 1909, UF Dean of Agriculture J. J. Vernon organized corn clubs for boys in Alachua, Bradford and Marion counties, the beginning of 4-H clubs in Florida. Clubs for girls followed in 1912.

Throughout the past 100 years, 4-H has evolved as our culture and surroundings changed. Programs offered through 4-H still open the doors to the agricultural and home economics fields. Modern programs also incorporate leadership, citizenship and community development through 4-H's "Learn By Doing" approach.
