Undergraduate Awards

- Outstanding Senior Award, J. Wayne Reitz Medal of Excellence
The J. Wayne Reitz Medal of Excellence Award was established in 1967 to honor Dr. J. Wayne Reitz, Provost for Agriculture at the University of Florida from 1949-1955, and President of the University of Florida from 1955-1967. This award is made annually to the outstanding senior from any program in CALS. By the end of the fall semester, a candidate for this award must have earned at least 40 credits at UF while enrolled in any CALS program, and have at least 90 total credits earned. The student must have achieved a distinguished scholarship record, and have demonstrated a high degree of leadership.
- Outstanding Junior Award, E.T. York Jr. Medal of Excellence
This award, named for Dr. E.T. York Jr., Vice President of Agriculture, University of Florida, 1963-1973, is presented annually to the outstanding junior from any program in CALS. By the end of the Fall semester a candidate for this award must have earned at least 14 credits at UF while enrolled in any CALS program, have earned at least 70 total credits earned and be eligible to graduate no sooner than Fall 2008. The student must have an outstanding academic record in upper-division work to be eligible for the award. In addition to the academic criteria, the student must have demonstrated a high degree of leadership.
- Larry J. Connor Medal of Excellence
The Larry J. Connor Medal of Excellence Award was established in 1999 to honor Dr. Larry J. Connor, Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences from 1991-1999. This award is made annually to the outstanding senior minority student from any program in CALS. By the end of the Fall semester a candidate for this award must have earned at least 40 credits at UF while enrolled in any CALS program, and have at least 90 total credits earned. The student must be a minority, have achieved a distinguished scholarship record, and have demonstrated a high degree of leadership.
- CALS Alumni and Friends Leadership Award
The CALS Alumni and Friends Leadership Award was established to recognize a student who exemplifies leadership, scholastic achievement and citizenship. This award is made annually to the outstanding senior from any program in CALS. By the end of the fall semester, a candidate for this award must have earned at least 40 credits at UF while enrolled in any CALS program, and have at least 90 total credits earned. The student must have an outstanding academic record and a high degree of leadership in departmental and/or college organizations.
